CM K Chandrasekhar Rao to open Metro railway stretch
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will inaugurate the Metro railway stretch from Ameerpet to LB Nagar in August. The first two stretches were launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2017.
The trial runs are being carried out from Ameerpet to LB Nagar and according to sources, the stretch will be launched in August if the safety clearances are done and the Chief Minister’s gives a convenient date for the inauguration.
On the condition of anonymity, a senior officer of Metro Rail, said, “The safety clearance certificate for this stretch will be cleared after the successful trial runs. Presently, the different parameters of train and passenger safety are being evaluated. After that, the safety clearance will be applied for. These aspects will be put before the Chief Minister and then his time sought for the inauguration.”
There are 16 stations between Ameerpet and LB Nagar and once this stretch was completed, then the complete stretch from LB Nagar to Miyapur would be connected.
The 30 km stretch from LB Nagar to Miyapur has 27 stations and it is one of the biggest stretches where two different ends of the city will be connected via the Metro Rail project.
The complete project covers 72 km and the completion of this stretch will give the real picture of the usage of the Metro Rail facility by the residents of the city.
Presently, there are 80,000 daily commuters using the stretch from Nagole to Ameerpet and the one from Ameerpet to Miyapur.
The Metro Rail authorities are carrying out various promotional programmes to attract more passengers and also facilitate a switch but the numbers do not tally with the user pattern that was estimated during the study before embarking on the project. The peak hour traffic at the road level continues to be the same despite partial commencement of the Metro Rail.
