Nellore: The defence pubic sector unit Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited is likely to have a tie up with Russia, apart from another the National Aluminium Company in the same sector, in the proposed greenfield Aluminium alloys production plant at Bodduvaripalem, 21 km from Nellore City, in Kodavalur mandal of SPSR Nellore district.
The state government has already allotted 110 acres to the mega plant where Midhani will invest nearly Rs 3000 crore and provide direct employment to 500 and indirect employment to several thousands.
Highly placed sources in APIIC said Russia will also play a role in producing aluminium alloys for critical sectors such as space and defence particularly flat and special profile products.
According to the sources, the tie up became necessary because sourcing of the right aluminium alloys and products for defence and aerospace applications became difficult due to restricted availability.
In addition to this, there is huge growing demand in automobile and railways to make lightweight structures.
