Gynaec issues on rise, says expert

Chennai: The fifth annual two day conference of the Endocrine Society of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry was held in the city on Saturday and Sunday. Around 1,600 delegates including physicians, diabeticians and gynaecologists presented research papers on different fields of medical science.

The conference discussed the effect of diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol on the heart effecting women health. Medicos from USA and UK updated on the current understanding on the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and presented his insights in unusual thyroid function tests.

Dr. Jack Leahy, a diabetologist in USA, spoke about various modalities of treatment in type 2 diabetes as well as adolescent endocrinology. “The hormonal health in women pertaining mainly to influence of thyroid disorders, obesity and micronutrients like vitamin D on reproductive health of women is concerning with health issues on a rise among women,” he told.

To encourage aspiring researchers in endocrinology, free paper sessions both poster and oral presentations were research in endocrinology and diabetes.
