Hyderabad: Cop school posts vacant

The shortage arose after many personnel from AP went back to the state and the TS government did not fill up the posts.

Hyderabad: Even as the Telangana State Police Academy (TSPA) is faced with a severe shortage of manpower, a fresh batch of 750 sub-inspector trainees are all set to arrive at the academy by the first week of July.

The shortage arose after many personnel from AP went back to the state and the TS government did not fill up the posts.

Sources in the academy said that while it has 12 sanctioned posts for additional SPs, there are only four. The forensic science unit has a sanctioned strength of six but has two personnel.

The sanctioned strength of DSPs is 15 of which there are seven at the academy.

“From station house management to forensic science, cyber crime, VIP security, law and order and traffic management, we have a revised syllabus and study material which will be very beneficial for the trainees. But the shortage of manpower is a matter of serious concern,” an official said.

The TSPA, besides revising its syllabus, had recently started a fully-equipped IT and cyber crime cell.

The government is likely to fill up a few of the posts before the arrival of the trainees. TSPA director Santosh Mehra said they are on the job of preparing the time table for their training.
