Tamil Nadu CM: Make Hosur airport operational
Chennai: Contending that the industrial hub Hosur, the pilgrimage town of Ramanathapuram and Neyveli that fuels the nation, require air connectivity, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has urged the Centre to make Hosur airport operational immediately and commence flight service from Neyveli and Ramanathapuram.
Hosur, Palaniswami said, is an important industrial hub in Krishnagiri district, which has been selected under the Udan (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik – a regional connectivity programme of the BJP-led government at the Centre) scheme in the first phase and flight operations are yet to start for want of NOC from Bangalore International Airport.
“The Hosur airport, will be an engine of growth to the industrial hub of Krishnagiri and neighbouring districts and also will develop the Chennai–Bangalore industrial corridor. I therefore request you to kindly instruct the civil aviation authorities to make Hosur airport operational immediately,” Palaniswami said in a letter to Union commerce & industry and civil aviation minister Suresh Prabhu, on Saturday.
