Notice to GHMC over bats on court premises
Hyderabad: High Court advocate Krishna Kumar Naguluri has issued notice to the GHMC seeking immediate removal of hundreds of bats present in the court premises.
The advocate on May 28 had complained to court officials asking them to take preventive steps to check the spread of the nipah virus in the court premises. The High Court Employees Association had requested the authorities to issue orders for inspection of the court premises and to take preventive steps against spread of the nipah virus.
Based on the requests, the joint registrar of the High Court wrote to the additional commissioner (health and sanitation), GHMC, requesting instructions to officials to inspect the HC premises and take preventive steps to check spread of the virus in view of the presence of bats.
As no steps were taken by the GHMC, advocate Sripada Prabhakar, on behalf of Mr Krishna Kumar, issued notice to the GHMC additional commissioner (health and sanitation) asking him to take steps on a warfooting to ensure that the bats are removed from the court premises forthwith.
PIL against Rythu Bandhu
The Hyderabad High Court has taken up as a public interest litigation (PIL), a letter written by an advocate seeking a direction to the state government to ensure that the Rythu Bandhu Scheme is confined to the weaker sections to minimise wastage of public money.
Mr P. Yadagiri Reddy, an advocate from Nalgonda, had written to the Acting Chief Justice seeking the intervention of the court to ensure that the scheme is restricted to genuine small farmers. He said NRIs, government employees, business people, incumbent and former MPs, MLAs, MLCs and all public representatives, professionals and income-tax payees should be exempted from the scheme.
