BENGALURU: Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council K.S. Eshwarappa, who had revolted against state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa, will work with the Lingayat strongman following instructions from top central leaders.
Mr Eshwarappa not only stopped all activities of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade (SRB), but also instructed his supporters not to identify themselves with SRB. Besides, he requested them to get involved in activities of the backward classes Morcha of BJP headed by himself.
Mr Eshwarappa told DC: “Since our central leadership and senior leaders advised me not to conduct parallel meetings and advised me to work with the state unit president, it is not correct on my part to go against their advise.”
He said “SRB will continue as an apolitical platform in future, and we will not mix politics. My friends and well-wishers in the party will get positions in the coming days. I am confident that our party’s leadership will definitely reward honest party workers.”
Meanwhile, sources in the state unit of BJP said Mr Yeddyurappa and Mr Eshwarappa have arrived at an understanding to work together and ensure a victory for the party in next year’s elections to the Assembly. These two leaders were counselled by senior RSS functionaries, and therefore decided to bury the hatchet when they met in Shivamogga recently, sources added.
