Neet top ranker GM Mukesh Kanna quit engineering for MBBS
CHENNAI: Though Neet thrashed the students’ MBBS dreams in the state, G.M.Mukesh Kanna has seen it as an opportunity and accomplished his goal of joining the MBBS course with all India rank of 260 in the common medical entrance test. The 2015 batch student who had joined mechanical engineering in PSG College of Technology quit his course in August 2016 to prepare for Neet.
“I had the passion for medicine since my childhood. But I could not get enough cut-off in my plus 2 exams. After Neet, I convinced my parents that I wanted to prepare for it. After 8 months of preparation I am able to score good marks in the entrance exam,” Mukesh Kanna said. He scored 655 out of 720 marks in Neet. “I want to pursue MBBS in Coimbatore Medical College,” He scored 1,165 of 1,200 in plus 2 exams. But his medical cut-off was 193.75 and he could not join MBBS.
Another student K.Adhithya Pranav from Chennai cracked all the three medical entrance exams namely, Jipmer, AIIMS and Neet. He got the all India rank of 351 with the score of 648 out of 720 marks. “Among the three exams, Neet was the easier one. I expected higher rank. Due to easy paper, students have scored high marks in the exam,” he said. He got 87th rank in Jipmer entrance exam and 262nd rank in AIIMS exam.
