More charges filed in Hyderabad ISIS module case

NIA said, “During investigation the role of Mohammed Irfan was unearthed.\"

Hyderabad: The NIA filed a supplementary charge sheet on Friday in the NIA special court in the Hyderabad ISIS module case. The charge sheet was filed against Mohammed Irfan alias Abu Jafar alias Irfan alias Iffu, son of Mohammed Yousuf. He is accused nine.

NIA said the electronic gadgets seized from Irfan established his radicalisation with ISIS ideology and that he had material like ‘Mujahid Guide’ and ‘How to conduct lone wolf attacks’ and was influenced by jihadi ideologues like Anwar Awlaki and Omar Bakri Mohammed.

The case was initially registered on June 22 in 2016 as per the rules on waging war against the nation, the Explosive Substances Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Eight other accused have already been charge sheeted. Irfan was arrested on January 17, 2017.

NIA said, “During investigation the role of Mohammed Irfan was unearthed. He had searched for hideouts for physical training. He had also identified a safe house for terrorists on the outskirts of Hyderabad along with accused Muzaffer Hussain Rizwan. As per instructions of the prime accused, Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani, Irfan transported explosive precursors. He along with Mohammed Ilyas Yazdani brought the material from the outskirts of Pochampally in Nalgonda district to the location told by the overseas handler. He also went to Anantapur to send coordinates of the spot through Mohammed Ibrahim Yazdani and collect explosives.”

Mohammed Irfan also took an Oath of Allegiance to Abu Bakr Al Baghdadi, the ISIS caliph, in the presence of Yazdani and Rizwan and was given a new name, Abu Jafar by Yazdani.
