Hyderabad: IPS officer's wife ends life due to chronic illness
Hyderabad: Additional commissioner, CAR, M. Shiva Prasad’s wife, ended her life at their house at Begumpet on Friday. Usharani, 51, hanged herself inside her room. She was suffering from chronic illness. Police said that Usharani also had depression.
Police said the incident occurred at around 4 pm. All family members including Shiva Prasad were in the house. They all had got together and were planning to go for a movie,” said a senior police official.
While everybody was sitting together after lunch, Usharani went into her room and locked herself. “Since she had been suffering from an illness and depression she used to go inside her room and lock herself up. She usually comes out once she feels better. This time, when she went inside, everybody thought she might come out after sometime. As she did not come out they called her and there was no reply. Then they broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling," said North Zone DCP B. Sumathi.
Police said that Usharani was under treatment since 11 years. “In fact, last week, Shiva Prasad had taken a month’s leave to take her for treatment to New Delhi,” said an official. Sources say that Usharani had developed depression due to her son’s ailment. On Friday, after Shiva Prasad and his family broke open the door, they informed the police, who rushed her to KIMS Hospital, but the doctors declared her dead. Police booked a case.
