Hyderabad: A 10-year-old boy was severely injured in an attack by stray dogs in Ayyappanagar of Kamareddy town on Wednesday. He is currently in a critical condition.

The victim, identified as Rahman, was playing in front of his house when the incident took place. He was shifted to a government hospital in the vicinity.

Residents of the area said that municipal officials failed to control the stray dog menace despite repeated complaints.

Mohammad Rafiq, the boy’s father, said: "We are worried over the safety of children in residential localities due to stray dog menace."

Meanwhile, doctors said they administered the anti-rabies vaccine to the boy and are monitoring his condition.

Following the incident, residents of Ayyappanagar staged a protest over the negligence of municipal officials on the issue.
