Chennai: “The Tamil are being massacred because they refuse to bow down to the RSS ideology”, declared Congress President Rahul Gandhi in a tweet on Monday that was significantly in Tamil.

Fishing merrily in the troubled Thoothukudi waters, he said, “The bullets of RSS and Modi would never be able to crush the Tamil's sentiments. Tamil brothers and sisters, we are with you #SterliteProtest”.

Again, in his tweet on Tuesday-this one was in English for the larger audience-Rahul called the police firing in Thoothukudi as “a brutal example of state sponsored terrorism.”

“These citizens were murdered for protesting against injustice,” he said.
Retorting, RSS joint general secretary Dr Manmohan Vaidya called Rahul's tweets as “irresponsible utterances” and said the “frustrated Congress and its President, Rahul Gandhi are trying to create more divisions in the society to regain their lost support”. He claimed that the RSS “is tirelessly working for unifying the people of Bharat rising above the caste, regional and religious identities to work in the interest of the nation”.

Chidambaram should speak up, says  Swamy

Meanwhile, BJP MP Dr Subramanian Swamy taunted former Union minister P. Chidambaram to “speak up” on behalf of Sterlite. In a tweet he said, “Now that the Madras high court is hearing the Sterlite issue, Chidambaram should appear for the company because earlier he was a paid Director for Vedanta. Emoluments included payment for evening “entertainment.”
