Corporators raise GHMC stink at meet
Hyderabad: Despite the GHMC receiving 13 awards in a year, corporators from both the ruling party and the opposition, cried foul over the city’s sanitation in the 8th ordinary council meeting held in GHMC headquarters and chaired by Mayor Bonthu Rammohan.
The corporators raised several issues including nala desilting and widening, sanitation, Charminar Pedestrianisation Project, Ramzan arrangements and online booking of sports complexes.
Corporators criticised the corporation that the situation at the ground level had been pathetic even though the city had been receiving awards. They claimed that the corporation had not been doing nala desilting resulting in several areas in the city getting inundated during the recent rains.
Corporators from the Old City claimed that the civic body had failed to make special arrangements for Ramzan. They said no special lighting or Masjid decorations had been made even after a week of the holy month. They demanded that the road widening for the CPP project be expedited.
Responding to the corporators’ queries, GHMC commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy said that he would not sleep until all grievances had been addressed.
