Telangana: SCR awaiting funds for many ongoing projects
Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) is building many important new lines in the state such as those between Muneerabad and Mah-bubnagar, Manohar-abad and Kottapalli and from Akkanapet to Medak, among others. It wants the state government to complete the land acquisition for these and release its share of funds.
In all 12 railway projects mooted for the state require about 1,500 acres of land. The TS government is to contribute Rs 500 crore.
South Central Railways Chief Engineer Vikram Gupta wrote to the TS government on May 2, stating that the work on the railway projects had commenced and asked for its share of funding.
The 17.2 km Medak-Akkanapet broad gauge line will cost Rs 117.75 crore. The state government’s 50 per cent share of this comes to Rs 57.50 crore. It has deposited Rs16.75 crore by March.
For the Rs 1,160.47 crore 151.36-km Manohar-abad-Kottapalli line, the TS government has released Rs 30 crore for land acquisition and sanctioned another Rs 60 crore. This amount is yet to be received by the Railways.
The Bhadrachalam Road-Sattupalli line will cost Rs 704.31 crore for which the Singareni Collieries Company Ltd will put in Rs 618.55 crore and the Railways, Rs 85.75 crore. SCR has initiated the land acquisition process. and asked SCCL to deposit its share.
