TK Rajendran back as Chennai police commissioner

ADGP Ashutosh Shukla is transferred and posted as ADGP, Enforcement, vice J.K. Tripathy.

Chennai: Hours after AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa was sworn in as the Chief Minister, the change of guard in the city police came as expected with
T.K. Rajendran getting his postings back as the City Police Commissioner replacing Ashutosh Shukla, who had been brought in by the Election
Commission.

The orders to this effect were issued by Home Secretary Apoorva Verma. Six more transfers and postings came as part of the first reshuffle of senior IPS officers in State.

Even before the counting got over, sources had indicated that the AIADMK government was unlikely to continue with the set of IPS officers transferred by the EC on the premise that existing officers were not good enough.

S. George, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, has been handed full additional charge Prisons, which fell vacant following the transfer of Rajendran.

ADGP Ashutosh Shukla is transferred and posted as ADGP, Enforcement, vice J.K. Tripathy. Tripathy is transferred and posted as ADGP, Law & Order, vice C. Sylendra Babu who is transferred and posted as ADGP, Coastal Security Group. Karan Singha, ADGP, Intelligence, is transferred and posted as ADGP, CB-CID, Chennai in the existing vacancy.

K.N. Sathiyamurthy, who was transferred and placed on vacancy reserve by EC, was brought back as IGP, Intelligence, in the existing vacancy. Bandi Gangadhar, SP, Dharmapuri, will hold full additional charge of SP, Krishnagiri, vice, R. Thirunavukkarasu, who is transferred and placed under vacancy reserve.
