TIRUCHY: A family of five had a miraculous escape when the car in which they were travelling suddenly crashed into a roadside unused well in a remote village of Kombaikadu near Thuraiyur in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchy district on Sunday.
Police said that Gunasekaran of Karuppampatti village was proceeding to Kombaikadu along with his family in his car. As his car approached Kombaikadu, Gunasekaran swerved to avoid running over a snake.
The car the plunged into an unused well but luckily dangled from the branches of a neem tree inside the well. Due to this, the occupants of the car escaped with minor injuries.
Hearing their cries, local villagers and passersby rushed to the spot and rescued all the occupants. Later, the car was also lifted out from the well with the help of a crane, police added.
