Bengaluru: With Chief Minister Siddaramaiah making his displeasure clear about the pathetic condition of Mysore Road and a ghastly accident at Pantharapalya claiming the life of a young girl, City Development Minister K. J. George finally acted on Monday. Doing a spot inspection of the road , he ordered officials to repair it and prevent its flooding during the monsoon.
Speaking to reporters during the inspection, Mr. George said BBMP chief engineer (SWD) , Siddegowda had been directed to mobilize men and material to complete the work on the bridge being built over the drain near the Gali Anjaneya temple as soon as possible.
While one portion of the bridge towards the temple has been completed, the BBMP now has to work on the opposite end where vehicles plying towards Rajarajeshwainagar will be diverted.
Taking note of the fact that flooding is now an annual affair around the vicinity of the temple, Mr George suggested the bridge be heightened to ensure the smooth flow of storm water beneath it.
He also asked the BBMP to hasten work on the flyover being constructed across the busy Mysore Road at BHEL junction.
With the road near Nayandahalli, Pantharapalya and Rajarajeshwarinagar junction having been badly damaged by the ongoing work on the Metro Rail and the BWSSB and BBMP, the minister ordered officials to fill up the potholes and make the stretch motorable by May 30.
Responding to the high demand for a link road from the flyover to Victoria hospital, he directed the officials to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) so the matter can be properly considered.
Later. George laid the foundation stone for a foot- overbridge connecting Mission Road and OTC road , which will be built at a cost of '16 lakh by Pioneer Publicity Corporation Limited.
