Chennai: No sign of rain
Chennai: Chennai’s temperature, which was pleasant last week due to intermittent showers, touched 39.5 degree C on Monday. Weathermen forecast warmer nights and maximum temperature for Northern Tamil Nadu districts including Tiruvallur, Vellore, Kancheepuram and Thirivannamalai as there are no chances of rains for the week.
According to the data available from the regional meteorological centre, Chennai airport touched maximum temperature of 39.8degreeC, resulting in sultry condition in the suburbs. Maximum temperature in Madurai was 41degreeC while
Vellore recorded 39.9degreeC.
The city will have no respite, as weathermen predict no rainfall activity till the end of the month. Speaking to DC, blogger of Tamil Nadu Weatherman, Pradeep John said absolute dry winds from northwest are dominating the city’s wind pattern and the city will see warmer nights. “The city is all set to cross the 40degreeC mark soon. Sea breeze is setting in only after 5pm unlike the last week where the sea breeze set in during the mornings,” said John.
Convective rains, which bring relief from heat, are expected at the end of the month, he said. “Even though it rained last week, the heat wave hits you on the face. Stepping out in Chennai is terrible and causes burning sensation on your skin,” rued Sakhi S, a marketing professional.
