Sri Lanka blasts fallout: Silent rally, prayers at Rameswaram,Tiruchy

Tiruchy: Over 300 people from different walks of life including a good number of women and children took out a silent march here on Tuesday to condemn the multiple bomb blasts in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday that killed nearly 300 people and injured over 500 others. The people’s rally was also to express solidarity with the suffering victims and their kin in the Island-Republic.

The protest rally, which also expressed grief and pain at this terrible human tragedy, began at St Theresa’s church in Thangachimadam and concluded at Infant Jesus church here, where a candle light prayer was held to express solidarity with the suffering people in Sri Lanka.

Arul Sahayam, parish priest, Susaiyappanpattinam, Jegan, parish priest, Thangachimadam, Sahayam, secretary of the Rameswaram Fishermen’s Association at Thangachimadam and Sesuraj, secretary of the Fishermen’s Association, Rameswaram, were among those who took part in the silent march.

(Kootu Prarthanai) at Tiruchy on Tuesday, with a prayer to God almighty that such highly shocking incidents like the serial blasts on Easter Sunday in Sri Lanka do not recur in any part of the world.

Mr. Gunaseelan said during the prayer meeting the participants observed a two minute silence for the deceased to rest in peace. They also prayed to the God almighty to give enough strength to the affected families to bear the irreparable loss, he added.
