Snake in VVPAT machine holds up polling in Kannur
The reptile reared its head in the morning triggering panic among the voters as well as polling officials.
Kochi: A snake too tried to disrupt polling in a booth in the hotly-contested Kannur constituency on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at a booth at Mayyil Kandakkai where the small reptile was found in the VVPAT (Voter Verified Paper Audit Trail) machine holding up the polling for a while.
The reptile reared its head in the morning triggering panic among the voters as well as polling officials. However, a ‘brave’ voter removed it from the booth.
Sitting MP P.K. Sreemathy of the CPM is fighting to retain the constituency against the strong challenge posed by Mr K. Sudhakaran of the UDF and Mr C.K. Padmanabhan of the BJP.
