BJP cries foul over missing names in list

It is learnt that several voters in Punkunnam, Kottappuram and Kuttankulangara divisions of Thrissur corporation were removed from the final list.

THRISSUR: The BJP has cried foul over the missing of several hundreds of voters in the final voters' list including Yogacharya P.S. Anathanarayanan, a resident of Punkunnam here.

BJP campaign managers said that persons who are permanent residents along with those residing in rented houses and were seen in the list of voters they received in January this year, but were seen taken off the list as they turn up for voting on the Tuesday.

It is learnt that several voters in Punkunnam, Kottappuram and Kuttankulangara divisions of Thrissur corporation were removed from the final list.

Mr Anathanarayanan and his wife and two sons found their names missing from the list as they went to the booth to cast votes on Tuesday morning.

Mr Anathanarayanan said that he had seen their names in a voters' list in January this year and he and his family had transferred their votes from Wadakkanchery to Punkunnam before LS polls in 2014.

Yuva Morch district president P. Gopinath said nearly 30 to 60 voters had been dropped in almost all booths and majority are them were BJP supporters. "We have filed a complaint with the district collector who is also the district electoral officer," he said.
