Bengaluru: The remains of the victims in the Sri Lanka blast started arriving at Kempe gowda International Airport on Tuesday night. The grief-stricken families, still reeling from the loss, are now caught in the struggle to have the remains brought home as soon as possible, as the bodies have already begun to decompose.
Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy reached out to the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, on Twitter, requesting them to take stock of the situation and expedite the process of bringing the bodies home.
The death toll from Karnataka now stands at 10, including eight JD(S) workers. The victims are: Ramesh, K M Lakshmi narayan, M Rangappa, K G Hanumantharayappa, H Shivakumar, Narayan Chandrashekar, A Mare Gowda, H Puttaraju, Shettypalya R Nagaraj and Razeena Khader Kukkady.
The JD(S) group were guests at the Shangri-La Hotel, which was one of eight locations attacked on Sunday. K.G. Hanumantharayappa was a builder and was the president of Mathrushree Developers while the other JD(S) supporters were into real estate business and were residents of Nelamangala and Tumkuru.
