Hyderabad: The investigation agencies which probed the Mecca Masjid blast were only successful in convincing the court about a blast occurring at the historic mosque and death of nine persons and injuries to 58 others due to it.
In its 140 page judgement put in public domain after some corrections, the NIA special court found only the evidences and records pertaining to the blast at the mosque put forth by the investigation agencies as “convincing”.
The investigation agencies including the State police, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and later on, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), had probed the blast case since May 2008.
About 24 exhibits were submitted to the court, which included cloth pieces, remnants of improvised explosive devices like battery, metallic cylinders, polythene cover and a rexine bag on which the RDX and TNT particles were found.
The court observed that “the evidence goes to prove a fact that on May 18, 2007 at 1.20 p.m, the incident of bomb blast occurred at Mecca Masjid, Hyderabad, resulting in death of nine persons and injuring 58 persons. This point is answered accordingly in favour of the prosecution.”
The court divided the entire case into 13 points and took up each point for discussion during the course of the trial. In all, the only points the court was satisfied on the argument that a bomb blast occurred.
