Wife plays role in bringing home the dead
Al-Riffa (Bahrain): Hari Prasad’s wife Chellamshetty Srilatha shares her husband’s philanthropic activities. She feels that all the workers and employees from the Telugu states working in the Gulf are her family.
The husband and wife team has speeded up the process of sending the bodies of deceased workers back to India. It used to take six months but now it takes between seven to 15 days. Coordinating with the Indian government, the bodies of 20 workers from Bahrain and 25 from Saudi Arabia were sent back to Telangana in the last three years due to their efforts.
Ms Srilatha says, “Earlier it was a big task to send dead bodies to India. After taking it up with the Ministry of External Affairs of the Indian government and the NRI wing of the Telangana government, the process has speeded up. We are coordinating with the governments of concerned Gulf countries as well as TS or other state government in India.”
