Krishnagri: 3 kids go fishing drown to death

On Saturday, 40-year-old Raji’s wife, Meena (35) of Punjee village in Udarbond taluk of Cachar district in Assam.

KRISHNAGIRI: Tragedy struck the families of two migrant workers whose children met with a watery grave as they were fishing in a pit of an abandoned stone quarry here.

Police said, around 30 people from Assam were working here as migrant workers in a private farm at Kurumbatti village, five kilometers from Hosur of Krishnagiri.

On Saturday, 40-year-old Raji’s wife, Meena (35) of Punjee village in Udarbond taluk of Cachar district in Assam, went in search of her children 12-year-old Ajay and 8-year-old Lakshmi, since they did not return home even after a long time.

There, she found the children lying dead in a pit of an abandoned stone quarry where they had gone fishing. The body of another boy was also found floating in the water surface.

The body of a third child was that of eight-year-old Babu, son of 30-year-old Munna, a migrant worker from the native place of the first two victims.

Mathigiri police rushed to the spot and fished out the bodies and sent them to the Hosur government hospital for autopsy.

A case has been registered and investigations are on.
