Reconciliation on, Cardinal Mar George Alencherry agrees to atone

KOCHI: Cardinal Mar George Alencherry has agreed to confess his lapses in the controversial land deal in Ernakulam-Angamaly archdiocese, before the Presbyteral council that is scheduled to meet on Saturday. During the negotiation talks conducted by Kerala Catholic Bishops Council representatives in Kochi on Friday, the Cardinal agreed to take necessary steps to compensate for the financial loss incurred by the Church in the deal.

Meanwhile, the Presbyteral council will discuss the matter and take a final decision, said secretary Fr Kuriakose Mundadan. However, the forums of laity protesting against the Cardinal said the issue can’t be resolved by compensating for the financial loss.
