Rajiv Pratap Rudy reviews Schwing Stetter's training school

Students who sign up for the course also receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.

Chennai: Rajiv Pratap Rudy, minister of skill development and entrepreneurship, visited the Schwing Stetter operator training school on Wednesday to review its classes, as it was the first company to launch the concept of an in-house operator training school.

The central government was making skill development its priority and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was especially passionate about the idea, Rudy said.

“The Prime Minister has stressed on the importance of skill development and has also launched a campaign in this regard.

The main aim is to make skill development an integral part of school and college education, specifically for those who are unable to excel at studies but could excel at other skills,” Rudy said. The government was keen on engaging with similar companies so as to make the courses more accessible to the youth of the country, he said. Schwing has set a target to provide training to 10,000 candidates in three years in four segments – earthmoving, road construction, concreting and material preparation and processing.

Students who sign up for the course also receive a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.
The company is now partnering with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council to provide students with a joint-degree certificate degree programme that will help these students get places across construction companies across the country.
