Monkey menace claims one life in Bareilly

There has been a rise in the number of deaths due to monkey attacks.

Lucknow: The monkey menace claimed one life in Bareilly district on Tuesday. Shahjahan Begum, 35, was chased by monkeys in rented first floor house in Bakarganj locality when she accidentally tripped and fell down from the first floor balcony.

Shajahan Begum was a mother to three children and wife of a labourer in the district.

Inspector Mohd Qasim of the Quila police station said that “The woman tried to escape and accidently fell from the first floor as there was no boundary wall. She sustained severe injuries on her head and died on the spot”.

Though there has been a rise in the number of deaths due to monkey attacks, the Bareilly Municipal Corporation (BMC) has failed to take action against the menace.
