IMD forecasts heat conditions over Andhra Pradesh

Vishakapatnam: Several parts of Andhra Pradesh are likely to witness a rise in day temperatures for the next three days.

According to a report issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, the lower tropospheric south easterly and south westerly winds are prevailing over Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. As a result, dry weather will prevail and day temperatures are likely to shoot up by two to four degrees Celsius in some parts of the state.

The maximum rise of temperature will be in south coastal Andhra Pradesh, which is already reeling under heat conditions.

The highest temperature of 38 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Kurnool on Thursday, which is 2.2 degrees above normal temperature. Nandigama registered 37.6 degrees Celsius, 2.9 degrees above normal. Likewise, Machilipatnam recorded 34.1 degrees Celsius, 2.5 degrees above normal; and Visakhapatnam 34 degrees Celsius, 2 degrees above normal.

On an average, most towns and cities in the state have recorded an average maximum temperature of 34 degrees, the IMD report added.
