THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former chief minister Oommen Chandy who is close to the NSS leadership has rallied behind its general secretary G. Sukumaran Nair after a frontal attack by CPM secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
In a statement, he said CPM killing and scaring people to bring on their line was "living in a false dream." He said that's why the CPM attacked the NSS leadership in whatever means they can.
"It's unfortunate when in a democratic system everyone has the right to take their stand. At the same time, political entities also have the right to hear and examine different views and opinions. If there is something wrong in it, it is those political parties to correct them," he said.
He asked the CPM to have the audacity to respect opponents instead of showing the arrogance of power.
BJP state president P. S. Sreedharan Pillai too alleged that he was speaking in a threatening tone. He said NSS being a community organisation has every right to accept or reject his offer of talks."Kodiyeri is behaving like a third rate politician using foul language. This doesn't seem right, being very arrogant," said Mr Pillai.
He also maintained that community organisations have the right to function in a socially, culturally and politically vibrant state like Kerala.
