Ms Nila said, To increase the revenue of the association so that we can help more families, we devised ways.

Bengaluru: “Behind every successful man there is a woman" is an old-age adage. However, behind the happiness of more than 45 families of HAL employees who have lost their family member are the strong women force who runs the HAL Wives Welfare Association.

From past many years, the association with its activities like selling masala items, papads, tailoring have been supporting the families of the HAL employees.

Taking the association to the next step and to augment its revenue, Ms Nila Madhavan, chief patron of the association has started to sell varied goods including the wooden toys from Channapatna and leather goods from Kanpur.

Scale models of the HAL's products like Tejas, keychains, crystal models, fridge magnets and others are being sold at the stall set up by the association members at the Aero India and the shop have been thronged by visitors.

"To increase the revenue of the association so that we can help more families, we devised ways. One of them was to sell Channapatna wooden toys and leather goods from Kanpur. We buy these products without any middle men supporting the families of the toy makers too" Ms Nila said.

She said that for next Aero Show, the association is planning to make momentos.
