Congress blames Jammu and Kashmir government for militancy

He also called the narrative between India and Pakistan a failure.

Hyderabad: Days after Congress president Rahul Gandhi extended his support to the government following the terror attack in Pulwama, the party’s national spokesperson Manish Tewari blamed the earlier BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir and the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for increased militancy in the Valley.

Taking questions on Twitter, Mr Tewari, who goes by his official handle @ManishTewari, said: “Since 1998 there were regular incursions by BAT Teams of the Indian Army & even BSF across LOC/IB.objective being to deliver pain and punishment to Pak Deep State to change it’s behaviour. Difference in 2016 —it was publicised and given the euphemism surgical strikes.”

He said the reason why militancy had increased was that the earlier BJP-PDP government in Jammu and Kashmir and the NDA/ BJP government at the Centre “exacerbated both alienation and radicalisation in J&K because of their obtuseness.”

He also called the narrative between India and Pakistan a failure.

“Narratives for the past 70 years, i.e Partition, four wars, terror sponsored by Pakistan and spurious allegations by Pakistan of Indian interference into their internal affairs, have failed. There is not a single positive strand in the narrative,” he said through his tweet.
