Bengaluru: Olympian shuttler P.V. Sindhu will cherish Saturday morning’s sortie onboard Tejas combat jet for the rest of her life as she acquired the distinction of being the first woman to soar into the skies in the home produced military aircraft. Soon after her 40 minute sortie at Aero India 2019, she was ecstatic about being the first woman to fly the jet.
“This day is dedicated for women. Hence I will remember this day forever,” she told the media on the tarmac at Air Force Station, Yelahanka. She was all praise about the aircraft and described it as the “real hero.” “It was definitely a great experience and a great opportunity. I feel very honoured that Group Captain Siddharth Singh showed all the stunts,” she said.
