Telangana staff to strike over CPS revision
Hyderabad: Over 3.5 lakh Telangana employees and 1.50 lakh pensioners across the state will go on day-long strike on March 25 demanding abolition of contributory pension scheme and restoration of old pension scheme. The Joint Action Committee of Telangana employees, gazetted officers, teachers, workers and pensioners on Friday met chief secretary S.K. Joshi at Secretariat and served strike notice.
The employees will hold day-long protests and a public meeting “Sakala Udyogula Maha Sabha” in the city. About 60,000 employees and pensioners are expected to take part in the rally. JAC leader A. Padma Chary said, “We are forced to go on strike as our long pending demand of abolishing CPS was not resolved even after repeated requests and protests. Employees and pensioners, their family members, covered under CPS are facing several hardships. They are denied financial and social security.”
The JAC also demanded government to lift the ban on general transfers of employees, that was imposed in undivided AP eight years ago. The JAC demanded the government to take up general transfer of employees immediately.
The JAC also demanded the government to bring back TS native employees allotted to AP to the home state stating that the Kamalnathan committee had not done bifurcation of staff properly.
It also demanded the government to relax the minimum three-year service norm for promotion to next level as many vacancies are available at higher level. It asked the government to relax the norm to two years service. The JAC also asked the government to pay gratuity to CPS employees, which has been long pending. It demanded the government to cancel the ‘order to serve’ for employees who were given postings in new districts. It stated that the government promised to cancel it within six months but was not done even after 16 months. The JAC asked government to constitute the first PRC of state to revise pay scales for employees and pensioners. It also demanded release of DA arrears.
