Chennai: The Madras high court on Friday ordered notice to Apollo Hospital on an application filed by Amrutha, who claimed that she is the daughter of former Chief Minister J.Jayalalilthaa, seeking details as to whether it has preserved the biological samples of Jayalalithaa.

When the petition filed by Amrutha came up for hearing before Justice S.Vaidyanathan, senior counsel V.Prakash appearing for Amrutha submitted that the petitioner has sent a notice to the Apollo Hospital asking details as to whether the biological samples of Jayalalithaa was preserved by the hospital. However, there was no response from the Apollo Hospital. Therefore, she has filed the present application.Advocate general Vijay Narayan submitted that the events as claimed by the petitioner happened more than 30 years back. The matter was under investigation and the records were being verified, he added and sought more time.

The judge posted to March 7, further hearing of the case.In her petition, Amrutha sought a direction to the state government to permit the family members of Jayalalithaa to cremate her body as per the rites, rituals, customs of Vaishnava Iyengar Brahmin Community, to which Jayalalithaa belonged to within a time frame to be fixed by the court with due police protection at the time of cremation.
