Telangana Electricity Regulatory Commission to finalise power tariffs
Hyderabad: With the TSTransco failing to submit tariff proposals within the deadline, the TS Electricity Regulatory Commission will take a suo motu decision on fixing the power tariff for 2017-18.
This is believed to be a first in the history of the power utilities. The ERC had earlier set February 23 as the deadline to Transco to submit the proposals which was not met.
The TSPDCL and NPDCL have already submitted retail power supply business and Aggregate Revenue Requirement proposals to the ERC, which would be taken as the base for the new tariffs.
When asked why the tariff proposals were not submitted until late Thursday, officials of the power utilities said that they had no information. Earlier, TSTransco has sought time till February 28 to submit the tariff proposals, but was told to submit them by February 23.
According to the letter sent by ERC to TSTransco, if it failed to submit the tariff proposals within the deadline, the ERC will finalise the tariff suo motu.
Meanwhile, the Southern Discom, in its business plan and ARR submitted to the ERC, estimated that in 2017-18 the total power sales will be 32,844.04 MU for key categories.
The ARR was projected as Rs 22,044.56 crore. Northern Discom, in its proposal, said that the total power sales will be 13,865.66 MU and projected ARR was Rs 9,885.89 crore.
