State growth, per capita income rise

Telangana's growth rate has increased to 9.2 per cent as against last year's 8.8 per cent.

Hyderabad: Telangana’s growth rate has increased to 9.2 per cent as against last year’s 8.8 per cent of the gross state domestic product. The state government can borrow near Rs 2,000 crore as a result of enhanced growth, official sources said.

The per-capita income grew to Rs 1.43 lakh this year against Rs 1.27 lakh last year. The development comes as a breather for the TRS government which is exploring all options to secure funds to complete its populist schemes. Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had lobbied for enhancement of the limit of 3 per cent of the GSDP imposed by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management Act to 3.5 per cent so that Telangana could borrow more.
