President Pranab Mukherjee to inaugurate Cyber Parks
KOZHIKODE: With a view to turn Kozhikode into an emerging IT destination in Kerala, IT Minister PK Kunhalikutty officially announced the opening of two major Cyber Park projects - the Kozhikode - Government Cyber Park and Uralungal Cyber Park under the banner of the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society on Tuesday.
It was in the presence of higher officials of both the cyber parks that the IT minister declared that President of India Pranab Mukherjee would inaugurate the parks at the ULCC special economic zone, Nellikode at 12.45 pm on February 27.
Talking to reporters on Tuesday at UL Cyber Park, the IT Minister said that just as the importance of Smart City in Ernakulam and the Techno Park in Thiruvanthapram had grown significantly in a short span of time, Kozhikode would also soon figure on the IT map of the Country with well known MNCs (Multi National Companies) occupying space.
“At the same time, it has to be noted that the IT mission of the State Government is not just to attract MNCs. Instead we also give equal prominence to smallscale firms, who are equally responsible in generating employment for our youngsters,” he added.
As part of the inauguration of the Cyber Park, the President will also declare Kerala as one of the Digital States of the country and thereby open up the opportunity of nurturing IT literacy at the grassroot level.
