Eat water-based food to stay cool
Hyderabad: Eating a lot of fruits and vegetables is important during summers, as they contain lots of water and will keep the body hydrated, nutritionists said. Water-based foods are highly recommended in summer as they ensure that the body is able to replenish what is taken away as sweat and urine.
For those suffering from diseases like diabetes, kidney stones and cancers, not all fruits and vegetables are recommended. Dr Srirang Abkari, critical care specialist, said, “Citrus fruits can be eaten by diabetics but not grapes, custard apple and fruits with a high sugar base.”
Patients with kidney ailments should not have too much of green leafy vegetables and tomatoes which can aggravate their problems, Dr Abkari said. Patients who are on chemotherapy or radiation therapy are often advised to have juices, he said.
