‘Divisive’ CAA unnecessary: Kamal Nath

The CM questioned the necessity of introducing legislations like the CAA at a time when the country was facing economic slowdown.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath has said the country did not require a divisive legislation like the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the ongoing World Economic Forum (WEF) at Davos in Switzerland, Nath called the CAA ‘divisive’ and said he was opposed to any law that threatened to divide the society.

Reiterating that the CAA would not be implemented in his state, the Chief Minister questioned the necessity of introducing legislations like the CAA at a time when the country was facing economic slowdown.

Nath, a regular at the WEF, said the buzz in the current summit has been the slowdown of economy and social unrest being witnessed in India.
