Kothapally leopard strikes again

Forest officials were sent to the area to catch the leopard.

Hyderabad: A leopard attacked a goat in the Mudwin reserve forest near Yacharam in Ranga Reddy district late on Tuesday. A couple of weeks ago, a leopard had attacked goats in villages near Kothapally for six nights. Forest officials were sent to the area to catch the leopard. Saturday’s incident occurred in the reserve forest that lies across Kothapally.

According to Amanagal divisional forest officer Janakiram, villagers were sleeping near the cattle shed and noticed some disturbance and dogs barking. When they lit a torch, they found the leopard attacking the goats. They started making a loud noise and drove the leopard away.

Mr Janakiram said, “After the continuous attacks at Kothapally, we have kept the locality under a scanner and guarded the villages. Now the attack is at the other end of the forest. We shifted the cages on Wednesday and will arrange for the traps at night.”
