Adilabad: 5 sub-registrars suspended

Criminal cases were already filed against two employees of the department for their alleged involvement in the scam.

Adilabad: Officials of the stamps and registration department have suspended five sub-registrars for their involvement in a scam worth Rs 75 lakh in Adilabad registration office.

There are allegations that they received Rs 75 lakh as revenue through stamp papers sales, but did not deposited it to the exchequer. Sub-registrars Imran, Sainath, Manohar, Arunkumar and Chandrasekhar were nabbed for the scam.

Stamps and registrations additional IG and DIG had come to inspect the land registration office and conducted an inquiry into the scam on Wednesday.

Criminal cases were already filed against two employees of the department for their alleged involvement in the scam.

Police also registered cases against two private persons for their involvement.

The officials also removed Jayawanth Rao, who worked as district registrar when the scam took place. District registrar Ravinder said lakhs was misappropriated and recovery is underway.
