No petrol perks make AP officers angry

Mr Huda said that he had requested the CM to allow him to work from Hyderabad since he would be retiring soon.

Hyderabad: A circular issued by additional secretary of AP General Administration Department (GAD-General) M. Kanakadurga on sanction of petrol allowance to officials working in Hyderabad has left senior officers angry. There are about 20 senior officers, including secretary and principal secretary, and DG rank officials working in Hyderabad after the AP administration shifted to Amaravati. Officers of the rank of secretary and above get are entitled to 160 litres of petrol per month. They are given coupons and government vehicles which fill fuel at the petrol bunk near the Secretariat that is maintained by the Civil Supplies department.

In the latest circular, the additional Secretary of the GAD directed the officials concerned not to issue petrol coupons to officers working in Hyderabad.

The circular said that after shifting of the administration to Amaravati, there is no provision for issuing petrol coupons to officers working in Hyderabad.

Taking strong objection to this, AP Vigilance DG S.A. Huda, who will be retiring on July 31, 2017, has written to AP Chief Secretary S.P. Tucker. Mr Huda said that he had requested the CM to allow him to work from Hyderabad since he would be retiring soon and his request was accepted.

Mr Huda asked the CS to direct the officials concerned not to stop issuing petrol coupons to his vehicle since Mr Naidu has permitted him to work from Hyderabad.
