Minorities panel office in Hyderabad suddenly shifted

They said that the authorities did not give sufficient time to secure records.

Hyderabad: The office of the Minorities Commission for TS and AP was suddenly shifted from Raj Bhavan Road to a two-bedroom quarter in Shantinagar here at midnight, leading to panel chairman Abid Rasool Khan asking the Chief Ministers to order an inquiry.

Mr Khan and other members, addressing a press conference, alleged that the TS government officials shifted the furniture and records of the commission to a government quarter meant to be used as a residence for the employees. They said that the authorities did not give sufficient time to secure records.

Office moved fourth time in 3 years
Mr Khan and other members said they were provided just two days to make arrangement for shifting of the office. The members said that while they were making arrangements, the furniture and records were shifted in the dead of the night.

They said that this was the fourth time that the office was shifted in three years.
Mr Khan suspected that the shifting of the office was in some way linked to his seeking a CBI probe into the status of Wakf properties in his capacity as the panel’s chairman and the commission finding fault with government officers in many cases.

Mr Khan said that the commission is a statutory body listed in the 10th Schedule of the AP Reorganisation Act 2014 and the High Court has directed the governments of both the states to bear the maintenance cost of the commission, including paying of salaries till constitution of separate commissions for both states.
