AP government worried about SCR stir in Visakhapatnam during CII meet

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to students not to protest and asked them not to spoil their own future.

Vijayawada: The state government is worried about youths gathering at RK Beach on January 26 for a silent protest on the Special Category Status for AP, with the support of Opposition parties like the YSR Congress and Jana Sena, in view of the CII Partnership Summit-2017 that is being held in Visakhapatnam on January 27 and 28.

As global investors will come here for the CII summit, the government is worried the protest might send wrong signals on the law and order situation in the state.

So, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has appealed to students not to protest and asked them not to spoil their own future.

Highly placed sources said Mr Naidu had discussed the jallikattu ordinance, which had inspired AP youths to protest for SCS with Intelligence and law and order officials.

He directed the officials to identify whether the protest is politically motivated. He also ordered them to take strong action and control damage, if any such things are identified, at the initial stage itself.

“With an intention to disrupt the CII Partnership Summit, some political parties might try to protest using students and youth, which should be put down on the spot,” the CM told officials.

It was also learnt that the CM had ordered law and order officials not to give any permission and to implement Section 144 and Section 30 of Police Act if needed as Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan has also extended support to the protesting youths.

He also told them not to permit the candlelight protest by the Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samithi on January 25 in Visakhapatnam.
