100 acres for Kashmiri Pandits in Jammu

J&K Government has identified nearly 100 acres of land at eight different locations in the Valley for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits.

New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir Government has identified nearly 100 acres of land at eight different locations in the Valley for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits who had migrated from the State following start of militancy in early 1990s.

Home ministry, which is working closely with the State Government on the rehabilitation policy, claimed that these pockets would be spread all over 10 different districts of the Valley.

Nearly 62,000 Kashmiri migrant families are registered with the Government out of which 40,000 are said to be in Jammu, 20,000 in the Capital while about 2,000 are in other parts of the country.

Centre has already allocated Rs 500 crore for rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits who had left the Valley from January 19, 1990.
