Karimnagar: More must donate blood, says Ram Nath Kovind

He said Karimnagar had a rich history and a vibrant present.

Karimnagar: President Ram Nath Kovind on Saturday inaugurated the Centre of Excellence of Thalas-saemia and Sickle Cell and other blood-related disorders at Prathima Medical College in Karimnagar.

He said, “With advanced medical facilities, many leading cities have emerged as preferred destinations for medical tourism and medical treatment in the country. Doctors and paramedics of India are rated best in the world. These are laudable achievements in the medical field but there is a long way to go to create holistic uniformly affordable medical facility for citizens of rural and urban areas.

He said Karimnagar had a rich history and a vibrant present. The President stressed on blood donation culture to be encouraged amongst the people as patients suffering from thalassaemia and sickle cell needed regular blood infusion.

The President also lauded the NDA government’s flagship health insurance programme Ayushman Bharat, saying it was aimed at ensuring none were deprived of healthcare due to lack of financial resources.
