Hyderabad: Madhuranagar station turns into dumping yard
Hyderabad: Street-level works are partially complete only at Hitec City Metro Rail station while the remaining stations are yet to get proper entry and exit points on the Ameerpet-Hitec City line. Some of the work is being defaced with people spitting on the medians and debris is piled up all along.
The entry and exit of Madhuranagar station have been turned into a dump yard. Some people were seen defecating there.
Despite placing barricades, nearby residents think nothing of dumping their household waste on a large area.
Citizens continue to illegally burn garbage near this station. Measures against the practice including setting up barricades and cautioning the citizens not to dump garbage at the spot have been in vain. This garbage dumped outside the station is not only an eyesore but also a health hazard.
Metro Rail officials want to end dumping of garbage near the station. A HMRL official stated, “We are regularly clearing the site, but garbage continues to be dumped there. We will soon be constructing a compound wall to prevent people from throwing their household waste into the station.”
The official stated that the street-level works at the stations would be taken up after the Metro Rail on the line becomes operational.
