Bengaluru: Mason found dead in open water pit
Bengaluru: A 37-year-old mason was found dead in an open water pit in a farm house in Sarjapura on Friday evening.
Police said the deceased, identified as Chandrashekar, went missing since Thursday and they suspect foul play.
His family told police that he left the house Thursday morning after he received a call and didn't return. Chandrashekar, a resident of Kommasandra, was working in an under construction site and staying there along with his wife and children.
According to police the incident came to light on Friday after the land lord Gopal Reddy found the body and alerted them.
Based on a complaint lodged by the family, investigations are on to ascertain whether he accidentally fell into the pit or someone pushed him. The body was shifted to Victoria hospital for post-mortem and the police are awaiting the report.
Investigation reveals that Chandrashekar was an alcoholic and often used to stay away from his house. His wife told the police that there was no reason which could have forced Chandrashekar to take an extreme step.
They said he received a call on his phone and left home around 8.30 am on Thursday.
There are no CCTV cameras near as the site, as it is located in an isolated place. The police have gathered phone call records to find who had called him and they are also questioning his relatives to check if there were any family disputes.
