Telangana: Parties slam government for fiasco

Mr Kongala said Mr Rao had promised that there would be no contract employees.

Hyderabad: The government is not focusing on students which has left them disappointed, Opposition parties said, a day after the Indian Science Congress scheduled to be held at Osmania University was postponed. TS Congress spokesperson Mahesh Kongala said that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had assured the creation of one lakh jobs but hardly 20,000 had been recruited, he said.

Mr Kongala said Mr Rao had promised that there would be no contract employees. Despite having teacher vacancies in universities and the government was running the show with contract staff as they come cheap. “Because of this, the quality of education is going down,” he said. Research scholars who have completed their PhD are jobless. Instead of employing them, the government is allowing them to waste precious years of their lives, he said. TS BJP spokesperson Krishna Saagar Rao said, “The TRS government has clearly proven itself. The cancellation at the last hour raises suspicions on its intentions.” He said the BJP rejected the excuses being given by the V-C and others for the cancellation.
